Hearty Italian subs packed with deli meats, melty cheese, peppers, and baked to a golden, buttery finish.

# What You'll Need:

→ Sandwich Base

01 - 4 hinged hoagie rolls

→ Meats

02 - 225 grams deli ham, thinly sliced
03 - 225 grams salami, thinly sliced
04 - 225 grams roast beef or cooked ground beef, sliced or crumbled
05 - 115 grams sliced pepperoni (optional)

→ Cheese

06 - 8 slices provolone or mozzarella cheese

→ Vegetables

07 - 120 millilitres pickled banana peppers or pepperoncini
08 - 120 grams sautéed onions (optional)

→ Seasoning and Topping

09 - 15 millilitres Italian seasoning
10 - 30 millilitres melted butter

# Steps to Follow:

01 - Preheat the oven to 190°C and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
02 - Slice each hoagie roll lengthwise, taking care not to cut through completely, so they open like a book.
03 - Layer ham, salami, and roast beef evenly into each roll. Add pepperoni if using.
04 - Top each with 2 slices of provolone or mozzarella, and add banana peppers and sautéed onions as desired.
05 - Place assembled sandwiches on the prepared baking sheet.
06 - Brush hoagie roll tops with melted butter and sprinkle generously with Italian seasoning.
07 - Cover sandwiches loosely with foil and bake for 10–15 minutes, or until cheese is melted and fillings are warmed through.
08 - Remove foil and bake for another 2–3 minutes, allowing the tops to become golden and slightly crisp.
09 - Serve hot, accompanied by chips, olives, or a fresh salad.

# Additional Notes:

01 - Use sturdy hoagie rolls to prevent sogginess during baking.
02 - To create a vegetarian version, substitute meats with grilled vegetables and double the cheese.
03 - Sandwiches can be prepped ahead and refrigerated wrapped in foil until ready to bake.
04 - For freezing, assemble and wrap sandwiches tightly, freeze unbaked, and add 5–10 minutes to the baking time when heating from frozen.
