In a large skillet, cook ground beef with garlic salt over medium heat until thoroughly browned and crumbled.

Transfer browned beef and uncooked rice to the prepared baking dish. Stir in beef consommé, French onion soup, and water until well combined.

Arrange sliced butter evenly over the surface of the mixture.

Cover the dish tightly with foil and bake for 30 minutes.

Remove foil and continue to bake for an additional 30 minutes, or until rice is tender and liquid absorbed.
