01 -
In a large bowl, thoroughly combine ground beef, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Form the mixture into 4 uniform patties and allow them to rest.
02 -
Preheat a grill or grill pan, as well as the broiler, to medium-high heat. Arrange the bun halves, cut side up, on a baking sheet and toast under the broiler until golden. Remove and set aside the top halves.
03 -
Grill the beef patties for 4 to 5 minutes on each side or until cooked through to desired doneness.
04 -
While the patties cook, gently heat the pizza sauce in a small saucepan over low heat, stirring occasionally.
05 -
Spread half of the warmed pizza sauce over the bottom halves of the buns. Top with half of the mozzarella cheese and the desired amount of pepperoni slices. Broil for 2 to 3 minutes until the cheese is melted.
06 -
Arrange a grilled beef patty on each prepared bottom bun. Spoon the remaining pizza sauce, scatter the rest of the mozzarella, and add the remaining pepperoni over the patties. Broil until the cheese is melted and bubbling.
07 -
Place the reserved top bun halves over the burgers and serve immediately while hot.
